2010 Topps Finest is beginning to hit eBay, and there are already some interesting cards that are starting to show up. The main complaint with this set centered around its similarity in look and content to Topps Platinum, especially with the Jumbo auto patches. In reality, now that we have seen more of the finished product, the similarity continues into the main box hit’s similarity to Chrome and Sterling’s patch autos.

Regardless of the similarities, the cards with the hideous swatch placement that covers up the player has become par for the course for Topps, and it makes me cringe just looking at the results. The dual auto jersey cards look to be much better from the cards that have started to make their way onto the forums, but they are still not where they could be if Topps had opted to go for on card signatures. Borders on the stickers and swatch windows look about as appealing as Panini’s oddly placed jerseys in their products, and its disturbing that Topps continues to make the same mistake over and over again.

Luckily for Topps, the base cards and the jumbo patch autos do look greater than I expected, and the commons may even rival the ones from Chrome because of the cooler photography and similarly awesome design. I still get the feel that these base RCs are more like eTopps cards than anything, and that kind of detracts from the overall appeal.

Ryan Mathews Superfractor Auto Patch 1/1 – Before release, wow. Completely horrible looking card, but still ridiculous.

Jimmy Clausen Jumbo Logo Patch 2/5 – Awesome, just awesome.

Adrian Peterson/CJ Spiller Dual Auto Jersey /10 – Extremely busy and weird looking card, which is really too bad.

Jacoby Ford Gold Refractor Jersey Auto

Ryan Mathews Finest Moments Auto – I always equated these cards to the common autos from base Topps, not a fan.

Taylor Price Rookie Patch Auto – This is what I was talking about. Just horrible.

Ryan Mathews Atomic Refractor – I was never a fan of these cards either, people love them though for some reason.

Jahvid Best Refractor RC – Great looking design, even if it is eTopps worthy.
