Topps released the first look at the base set for 2011 baseball, and I must say that it is another win for Topps. The design will inevitably be the design for 2011 Topps football, if there is football in 2011, and I am very excited for that.
The problem is, as good as the designs for low end Topps usually is, the designs for high end Topps is bad. I mean epic fail bad. I have no idea why low end Topps can be so good and high end topps can be as bad as it is.
Someone needs to pass some inter-office memos along that explain how to conform to the standards set by the low end greatness.
That’s all for now.
The borderless design is a nice touch.
I agree about the high end stuff. I would love to see Topps get better at the high end. Maybe this is a step in the right directon.
They said at the national, they had a lot of things planned for this year because it’s their diamond anniversary. Perhaps, their high end product will live up to that with diamond crusted cards.
TJ if you look closely there is a white border around the card. They are not borderless (which would be good also). Nice looking cards for 2011. wonder what kind of promotion they are gonna have this year to top the current promotion ???
My only complaint would be the use of foil for the player name and logo once again….very hard on the eyes for those with less than stellar eyesight. Does nothing to add to the attractiveness of the card design, which is otherwise excellent.
