I hate me some Triple Threads. I really do. I think it is one of the most poorly conceived sets available on the market, the design is horrible, and the content is blah and then some. In fact, during the entire existence of the product for the three sports it has been launched in, I have bought ZERO singles and ZERO packs. I like very few of the actual cards, however, this year, I had high hopes with how much awesomeness is coming out of the Topps camp.
First off, baseball seemed to get a TAD better this year. They had some on card autos, some vertical cards with larger pictures, and less of the hideous neon rainbow foil that Triple Threads is infamous for. Based on this situation, and how many of the other products had on card auto content, I thought we would be in for a special treat courtesy of Topps’ on fire design squad. I was wrong.
Triple Threads has turned out to be more of the same. Although it seems to be getting better by millimeters when it needs to be miles, the general stuff looks par for the course. Not a good thing. Worse than that, there doesnt seem to be ANY on card content to it, which makes me wonder if the other products got all the attention while triple threads’ lame brand identity continues to gather dust on the shelf. Dont get me wrong, I am fine with that, as I love Chrome 3,595,033 times better than this, but still.
The worst part of everything is that there is now one auto per mini-box, which means that instead of pulling one scrub rookie auto for 180 bucks, you can now pull two. Other than Bowman Sterling, there may not be another product on the market that gives you less value and content fo
You can see the damage here, but for the first time this year, I am left shaking my head with something that Topps has put together. Yuck.
I agree for the most part, but I do like the Gabbert and AP booklets.
I think the Sanchez and Newton would be awesome if they removed the stupid sticker box and replaced it with a gold or silver on-card auto. The same thing for the booklet, remove the “AP” patch since the other half is a huge patch and move the auto down (again, on-card gold or silver) to show more of the player. And there’s no need for two extra patches on the shield, remove them and move the shield over so we can actually see the player and adding an auto wouldn’t hurt.
This set could be so much better, like the UD Black sets, but stickers and the price just kill it for me.
The ridiculous slogans are back on Triple Threads, although thats some of the fun. There’s so many variations that You can bust a box and the cards you get could be cards you have never seen before on other box breaks.
Also, Does anyone else notice the the ‘Sanchize’ looks like it says he plays for ‘CHI’?
WHat do you freaking expect!! Triple Threads.. Its the same year after year and every god damn year .. =here comes Gellman.. WOW!! Its still the same? WHY WONT THEY LISTEN TO MY UNCENSORED ADVICE??
Because you have no portfolio!!! ZERO.. It should be this way..(verbal description) Yeah show us for a fucking change.. Please prove me wrong..
CAN YOU EVEN USE PHOTOSHOP??
Triple Threads Sucks.. HAVE YOU EVER RIPPED A PACK?? OF COURSE NOT..
You are a talented writer, but the shit gets old after a while.. You won’t post this anyhow.. UNCENSORED MY ASS..
Most food critics aren’t chefs. Most movie critics dont make their own movies. But now mojo u want him to be able to create his own line of football cards. Settle for a talented writer and be lucky. Go buy some triple threads and enjoy them I guess.
Thx for saying what most of us were thinking. I guess you can’t expect much from some who goes by “mojo.”
