To help boost the sales of Topps products over the last few years, they have offered wrapper redemptions that can be procured through sending in empty wrappers to the company in exchange for a pack. These packs were shipped this week to the collectors lucky enough to receive them, and I have to say I am intrigued with the results.

Although the blue tinted glitter stock is not something I like, the Silver Slate cards are extremely classy looking. Not only do they have different border and are numbered to just 10 copies, the border is raised off the card like a frame. This is a tactic Topps has used before in football and baseball products, as has Upper Deck, and I absolutely love it.
There are also autographs available in the redemption packs, which always raises the stakes a bit. We know there will at least be some Nolan Ryan autos, among others, and giveaways like this are never a bad thing to me.
Topps also seems to have learned their lesson in fulfilling the redemptions after the accusations surrounding their Bowman blue wave packs, which have to make people feel a bit better.
With Blue Wave Football packs scheduled to go out with Topps football redemptions starting next week (per twitter), this has to get people excited for what is to come. Although the Blue Wave packs have been delayed because of the amount of printing time needed to make the cards happen on the chrome stock, I have a distinct feeling they will be worth the wait.
With any giveaway, any company that makes it happen eventually will win my support – as free stuff is never a bad thing. When you see how some of these cards turned out, there is no doubt this is something WORTH the trouble of collecting wrappers and mailing them in.
