I get an update every day with all the new auctions matching “Peterson Auto,” and every day, that email contains at least three of the fake 2007 Rookie Premiere autos that have overrun the hobby. This one is a little different mainly because of the slab it is encased in. This card has been deemed authentic by BGS, and even got an autograph grade of 8, meaning that whoever got this one at Beckett had no fucking clue what they were doing.  Its too bad that someone is going to get taken for this, as the normal collector would have no clue they were being had. Just unreal as to how stupid the people at Beckett must have been when they got this card in hand.

Just for reference, the fake 2007 cards have gone through three stages of release. The first ones looked like a five year old got into the sharpie box and started signing cards. The second ones were a little better, but still EASILY identified. The last series, which this card is a part of, the asshole who did the signing took much more care in signing the cards, and has made it tough for the untrained eye to identify the fake. Let me assure you, they are all fake and there is no doubt that they need to be destroyed. No doubt slabs like this one will be used to legitimize the counterfeits, and this time, Beckett doesnt even have the “we dont consider the autographs” arguments for slabbing it as real.

Bottom line is that the fake 2007 cards are so plentiful that it isnt even wise to invest in any of them, regardless of any guarantees made by the sellers.
