Topps is adding tribute to the product calendar in football, and to tell you the truth, it doesn’t look horrible. Although some of the cards are very reminicent of the horror of Triple Threads, others look pretty simple and clean. The success and failure of this product will depend a lot on the checklist, as the main complaint in baseball was always the price point for what you get. Spending 100 bucks on a pack containing a jersey card is as ridiculous as the price point for products like Sterling and similar, but some of the other hits could make up for what seems to be a lot of duds.
As always, Topps thinks they can sneak these stickers into their high end products without anyone complaining, and that will always piss me off. Hard signed cards are making their presence felt in sets like Topps Chrome Baseball, and yet, with football they are left by the way side.
I really hope this product ends Topps’ streak of horrible high end products, and with the simplicity of these cards finally being exactly what I am looking for, that may happen. See Topps? There really is no need to spell out all the weird shit if you can design the cards right. That Namath? See that? USE IT MORE OFTEN.
Here are the cards:
that Manning is a little ugly but that vikings card is awesome!
What the hell!? There’s no way they came up with this design by themselves. They must have hired a former UD design team member and then actually listened to them….
The cards kind of remind me of UD Black…
I was thinking the same thing…you know they wont come up with a good original idea on their own…
ok topps, not that you’ve managed this for 2010, start putting together the 2011 set, get them manufactured and go get them hard-signed!!!
opps, suppose to be NOW instead of NOT
Hello UD Premier.
I am amazed at the big improvements topps has made. For once, a set that is mostly good looking and kind of reminds me of UD premier.
It’s all been done before
