I posted last week about the Sam Bradford Superfractor “Sale but No Sale” on eBay, and how that price was a fix due to some outside interference. Well, his other cards, even those that come from lesser sets are absolutely going crazy with the news that he will most likely win the Rookie of the Year without competition. In all seriousness, his stuff has been nuts to begin with but when you see other 1/1s reaching ridiculous heights, you start to wonder where the fake bids end and the real ones start.
Look at this 1/1 Bowman Sterling Autograph and the absolutely crazy price it has been bid up to. Although this may be another false price due to someone not being truthful with their means to buy the card, it still bears mention that this is still a crap set that looks crappy in general. If this price is real (and considering the previous auction, it doesnt look to be), my question is less about who is the crazy person falsely bidding up all these cards, and more about who is actually crazy enough to buy a 1/1 for THAT much out of a product like Bowman Sterling. Not only was the design a piece of complete and utter donkey shit, but the card is one of about 8 1/1 Bradford examples from the set. Its like someone paying that much for one out of Triple Threads.
Next, this 1/1 Patch Auto out of Limited is also fetching a ton of money, and again I am baffled as to whether or not this is real. Usually when you see 41 bids, the doubt starts to creep in, but who knows? It could be real. Again, you have a crap looking card from a crappy product, and yet, this one of a million parallels is worth THAT much to someone? Yeah, even if I had the money, why not wait for a much better one to come along? Hell, I bet the REAL Superfractor will be up again soon. I mean, there isnt even any differentiation between the base and the 1/1 other than the number on the back!
You can also see by some of these auctions that these prices may be closer to real than fake, especially when the normal non-Panini clone cards are going for huge final prices. Check it out:

When Bradford’s career is over, will he honestly be worth that kind of price? Im going to say that this is probably the near the ceiling, even if he goes on to be a great QB. Its actually more likely that he is going to turn out to be Eli Manning rather than Peyton Manning in terms of hobby value, and that is why I am so skeptical about this. I dont know, maybe Im just not seeing the writing on the wall like I used to, but I cant help but feel sorry for the people who equate prospecting in football to prospecting in baseball. Not that this would even be considered close to a buy low sell high scenario in any sport.
I buy and sell a lot of Bradford cards. Right now there is one guy bidding high on a lot of them. He only has 12 previous transactions on ebay and he has bid up a finest dual patch bradford /25 to $580 currently (it never sold for more than $275 before). He just bought a bowman sterling patch /25 from me for $360 but has not paid. I’ve given him the 24 hour relist ultimatum so I’ll be able to tell you better whether he’s a fraud. His previous 12 transactions all had positive feedback which is odd. He is also the one leading the bidding on the leaf limited 1/1 and he is the one who “bought” the topps chrome auto patch /25 for $760.
All that money usually spent on Exquisite has to go somewhere. Lord knows, National Treasures and 5 Star may never actually be released until 2013 at the current rate of delay…
I emailed you about that finest auto /25 that I had up on ebay, and it’s the same one Jon commented on. I’m pretty much convinced at this point that I’m going to have to relist, but still – this is ridiculous.
Sorry about that, I get a ton of emails every day and I have been really crunched for time. If someone has more info on this guy who is being a douche about all the bradfords, please send it to me so I can check it out. Hopefully he gets bored soon and stops doing it, if it is in fact one guy.
5 Star got delayed!?!?!
Jon, and anyone else who sees this bidder with 12 feedback… he’s going to retract and/or not pay. Cancel his bids and block him. I just got a reply that does not look good for anyone who has an auction he won… “i am having problems online with my paypal..may i decline my highest bidder status”. He has been removed and blocked from my auctions.
I imagine the ‘problem with paypal’ is likely that there isn’t any money in there.
Literally just saw that message. I’m going to leave him hanging for a while. He’s on the hook for $1100 for my Bradford auto jersey /25.
Ditto to Brian. He did not pay so I have relisted.
PS…even though he would not respond to any of my e-mails about payment for the past 3 days, when I asked him to please cancel the transaction he actually had the courtesy to do so and did it within about 4 minutes of the request…I have no idea what his motive is.
I would just like to take a moment to point out that, like the Bradford 1/1, the only “diferentiation” between a winning lottery ticket and a regular lottery ticket are also the numbers printed on them. For some reason, more value is placed on the winning lottery ticket, though. I couldn’t resist… 😉
Just an FYI… the ‘winning’ bidder for the 1/1 Leaf Limited claims they didn’t bid on the auction and backed out. Not sure if you want to edit this or not but, if people are looking to block bidders like this: cazzell11
The 1/1 Bowman Sterling Super is now relisted again, as well. Mine is out on a 2nd chance offer for the next 24 hours. If they do not accept, it will be staying in my collection for awhile.
I own the Bradford Chrome Superfractor. Have young family now and want to sell it. I live in Australia and open to genuine offers on the card.
