2011 Topps Supreme Football Brings the Heat With Upgrades

Last year, Supreme was one of the most successful products of the entire card season. Although I HATED the design of the majority of the product, and didnt understand why people were paying as much as they were for a pack that could contain a jersey card, it sold like hotcakes.

This year, it looks as if Topps is applying the standards we saw released in Inception and Finest, and upgrading a large portion of the main hits. It is still yet to be seen if there will be a change to a much more friendly configuration, but I will no doubt be buying singles. Instead of looking like a bastardized triple threads, it looks as if Topps is going more the direction of their previous sets, and including some on card autos in the process. Bigger player pictures and better design work are major plusses on this sell sheet, and I hope that the rest of the product lives up to it.

I do see they have added Michael Vick and Peyton Hillis autos to the checklist, and I do love the possibility that some of the Veterans will have some nice stuff before Five Star hits. They have also added an extra 3 autos per case, which is good, but still presents pretty large hole for the other 5 hits, a problem Ultimate Collection breakers have faced for years.

As soon as we have more info on contents, ill post it here.

  1. I’m pretty sure Ultimate Collection is what they were going for here. I mean, if that wasn’t the product of a former UD design team member, I would question why the design team (AAhahhahahaa!, holy shit, yeah right … funny!) at panini hasn’t picked up on quality design templates yet…

If those veteran/HOFer autos are on card, Topps is getting incredibly close to making me want to actually build an autograph set again… 🙂

  2. Just won the 8 quarterback auto book yesterday for $900, I’ll have a scan up on Blowout asap!
