Panini Shows Us What 2011 Plates & Patches Will Be All About

Although I have a distinct feeling that the majority of Plates and Patches will be ugly and poorly conceived junk, they will have at least one aspect that is pretty awesome. As I said when they first previewed the base auto jersey cards, I really liked them last year. It was the one sticker card for a veteran or HOFer that I bought last year.

This year, the design has gotten a TAD better, but mostly its just a rehash of last year. Since last year was good, im not as angry as I normally am about nuts and bolts rehashes of product lines.

The problem is going to be that none of the rest of the cards will look anything close to good. It will all be 2 dollar jersey cards that werent meant to be jersey cards, and a bunch of other stuff that wont be worth my time explaining it.

Maybe I will end up surprised. But, if this year’s cards are anything like these from last year, I think my assessment is right on.

Here are the previews:

  1. Wow the difference between the Benn card and these is night and day. Will Panini actually pull off a whole set that looks as good as these? If it does im def on board.

  2. I’d agree with that. I think these look a lot better than last year’s slop. I’ll get some boxes if the prices are about the same as last year’s, but I’m not hopeful. I’ve heard they’ll be about $150 and I’m just not spending $50 more than Inception for these. They’re nice, but not THAT nice.
