This year’s chrome offers something that has ever been offered in any way prior – on card autographed Chrome branded superfractors. With these cards, we will possibly start to see prices that could reflect some of the baseball desire for these cards.
Last year, Sam Bradford’s autographed sticker superfractor made waves with its “sale” at $12,000. Although the sale wasnt completed in the end, the card eventually did sell for a huge price off eBay. Cam Newton is having that type of year, and now that the autographs are hard signed, like Chrome’s baseball sister set, we could see astronomical prices.
On blowout, a user posted pictures of the on card Cam Newton Superfractor that is sure to be up on eBay shortly. It is currently the most valuable card available in the set, and will sell for higher prices than any other card this year. Even though the Finest Superfractor auto was recently re-listed after being “sold,” Chrome branded 1/1s always sell for more. Additionally, the allure of the Chrome superfractor have ripples that extend out further than any other set. If it were a sticker, the price would not be as high, which makes this that much more valuable.
Personally, I find it funny that a card that doesnt feature anything more than a signature and a machine stamped number, can sell for a price higher than any card with logo patches or otherwise. The Superfractor is king, and the other cards are living its kingdom.
Oddly enough, Newton’s autographs out of Chrome are selling higher than any Chrome auto has sold since Adrian Peterson. It definitely puts him in some very prestigious company. Andrew Luck will most likely surpass Newton’s collectability next year, but for now, he is very much near the top of the mountain for these types of cards.
Because Chrome has a lot of other cards worth chasing, it shouldnt affect prices at all now that the biggest card has been pulled. However, it does take a little bit of the chase out of it. My guess is that the card should fetch over 10K, and that is no joke. The modern card ceiling has always been around that price for any non-Ruth card, and this could be the first football card in years to actually come close to that limit.
Ill post the auction as soon as it hits.
Crap. I was gonna offer 10K when it came out but now every blog/post in the world is saying it will go for 15K so there’s no way they’ll take my offer. From the pics it looks gem too (at least the centering) so if they’re smart they’ll get it graded.
Grading a 1/1 will not increase its value. It will protect the card, for sure, but since there is no other version (since it is a 1/1) then it doesn’t matter if it gets graded 9 or 9.5 etc.
I thought about that as well but I still think grading would increase its value. There will be other short print Newton autos so doesn’t it stand to reason that getting a 9.5 grade on the 1/1 Superfractor would only increase it’s value? Either way, the cost of grading is so small compared to the value of the card that I would think it’s a no brainer.
