I talked about the hit or miss quality of a product structure like Tier One brings to the table, but there are quite a few big ones to delight your fancy. Some of the biggest hits in the product have already started to surface, including one that might be my favorite baseball autograph set in quite a few years.
The clear rookie reprint autographs are making a big impact with collectors who grew up chasing down these rare cards. For this set, the acetate and on card autograph adds a new element of content, as the rookie reprint has been done many times in baseball. The checklist features some guys that havent had much attention as of late, including a redemption for Ken Griffey Jr. Considering how iconic some of the cards remain, even in today’s hobby, adding in new acetate technology is a stunning way to display these gems.

Some of the highly publicized bat barrels are also making their way onto eBay, but they are not any of the big ones so far. Although I really dislike the design, I think these are pretty cool cards. The guy who gets the Ruth one might have a card that could break the bank in most people’s case. I would go 5-7K on a card like that, as Ruth bat barrels have sold even higher.

Outside of just the advertised chase cards, there are also cut autographs that are being offered outside of what the sell sheet was promising. The design features a player picture for the first time in a while, which is a big upgrade for cards like this. There is already a Mantle Cut that has been posted, and there should be more hitting soon.

Lastly, the jumbo patch and jumbo patch autos are proving to be some of the biggest cards on the market so far, even though they are by far the ugliest. It just goes to show how much people love ridiculous patch cards, even if the design is horrible. That specific fact has been a source of confusion for me over the last few years, and I will continue to wonder why it is the case.

Tier one may have a checklist that is much larger than it should be, but im not sure that matters. Is a product like this the best it could be? No. Does it deliver hits unlike its predecessor? That’s a clown question, bro.
