Currently, as mentioned before, Aaron Rodgers is no doubt the most valuable signature in football. He is outselling Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and just about every other player that is alive and signing. People would think that a lost bid at a perfect season would put a damper on his cards, and they would also be horribly wrong. The most ridiculous part of this all? I dont think there is a ceiling in sight for the value of his cards yet.
Normally, I would say, get yourself checked into an insane asylum if you are going to be thinking of buying at this penthouse level. However, because of team affliation and probability that he will win at least one more Super Bowl in his career, Im not going to go where I usually go with this discussion.
Check out some of these nutso sales lately:
2005 Aaron Rodgers Exquisite Auto Patch RC BGS 9
2005 Aaron Rodgers Bowman Chrome Silver Auto /10
2005 Aaron Rodgers Bowman Chrome Auto BGS 9
Rodgers has already surpassed most of the records for card value that were once held by the likes of Brady and Manning, especially in the autograph department. I dont think I have ever seen a base auto card out of chrome sell for the prices that his are selling for.
The bottom line is that Rodgers is an incredible quarterback who was not able to attend the 2005 Rookie Premiere due to scheduling or something like that. Because he was not at the premiere, his signature was not as readily available as some of the other players who did attend. There are only 199 base autographs in Chrome for Rodgers, even though others have 1000 and up. Amazingly, the supply is minimal all around, a situation that NEVER happens these days. Even players who do not attend the premiere these days are stalked for thousands of signatures just to prevent a situation like this, Tom Brady or Tony Romo.
Rodgers will be featured in quite a few Topps sets coming up this year and next according to the brand manager, and from the looks of it Panini will be the same. He has managed to avoid detection by company reps for a while, but it finally looks like his fans will have more acces to his signature.
The Exquisite BGS 9 listed was shilled and relisted today. I suspect the Chrome auto was as well, as it was purchased by a guy with 1 feedback. The Silver Auto listed at $5,500 doesn’t have a buyer. His cards definitely leveled off and even dropped a little after the loss. I agree, there is still room to grow but only with another superbowl win.
Even his regular cards are going up in value. Just look at the most recent issue of Beckett to see all or most of his cards going up in value.
Beckett’s prices are drawn out of a hat, I couldnt care less what they say. But you are correct.
