ITS BAAAACCCCKKK!

For those of you newer readers of SCU, im sure you have seen a recent focus on scams and fakes. Exposing scams are actually nothing new to this site, and its always fun when a past expose comes back around for a second helping of disgust.

Shit, did I say fun? I meant totally fucking idiotic. Unfortunately for us, there is a sucker born every half second in this hobby, and even worse, they have tons of fucking cheese to spend.
A little backgroud:
Last year, a viking head logo Peterson Exquisite surfaced on eBay, with an “authenticity” letter provided by Gregg Kohn of Upper Deck. Seemingly at the same time, an identical patch auto was also posted with the same viking head logo. Gregg, upon my request, confirmed the authenticity of the letter for the first one, and confirmed that the second was fake.
Obviously, people never learn, as there is now a THIRD fake Peterson Viking head logo patch, with this one already up over 1000 dollars. The reason I know its fake is because Gregg was positive that only one Viking logo was known to be in the product, making this one a fraud. Also, the colors and stitching style of the viking head, as well as the material its sewn onto are completely wrong. This would stick out like a Beckett box break to any informed collector, but that doesnt stop the idiots from jumping on it. To think that someone would destroy this amazing card with a fake patch is completely fucking ridiculous in the first place, but it isnt the first and wont be the last. It is the best non 1/1 card of 2007, and now this one is destroyed. Wonderful. Maybe UD will pull it down, doubtful though.
Glad to see that douchebaggery faces us at every turn.

Please Start Filing 2008 Rookie Premieres Under The Possible Scam Umbrella

Ever since the obviously fake 2007 rookie premiere autos have surfaced like a spreading disease, I wondered how long it would take before the other years started their infections. Unfortunately, 2008’s RPAs have entered that status much earlier than I expected.

The issue with some of the 2008 ones that I have seen is that some of them are questionable, but given up by some of the other cards the seller has for sale. Take this guy for example, as his 2008 rookie premieres look off, but not awful. Then look at the other cards, especially this Cutler and Winfield, and everything comes into focus.

Guys, this type of thing has been a problem from the inception of the rookie premiere autos, but never like this. Hopefully Topps will do something about it.

Some People Are Too Stupid For Words…

Every once in a while you see something on eBay and you just know the story behind it without even reading what happened. Most of those times, you can see the stupidity shining through like a beacon, especially when it’s a card like this one:

Here is the story of the card, as told by me.

One day, Senor Jose Collectadora was on ebay and saw some SICK MOJO CARDZ!!! posted for his favorite player Tony Romo. He immediately hit the 19.99 buy it now because he knew he was getting a MAJOR STEAL!!!!! on a Romo NFL logo patch 1/1 that usually sells for hundreds. When he got it, he picked it up only by the edges because he knew he had to send it in for grading and didn’t want it to be messed up in any way. Fingerprints are BAAAAADDD. Of course, before he sent it in, he made sure to check his bible to see the book value for when he posts it on the message boards for his “daily steelz thread!!!!!!!!!!!”

Upon seeing that 1/1s were “too scarce to price” he began to think he had more SICK MOJO than he thought he had before! This could be a card worth thousands of dollars! He posts his steal on the board, and people laugh him off the page. When he sees the laughs, he starts to see a little bit of the stupidity behind his purchase. He pulls up the auction and sees that in the description, its listed as a custom card and is not real in any way. Jose doesn’t care, and posts it on eBay thinking that he can get someone else to fall for the plan. I mean, he cant stand being made fun of, and this is the way to make him feel better.

Nice job Jose, some day you will get exactly what you deserve. Fucking idiot.

Yeah, he has done it three fucking times. What…a…scrote.

Wonderful person this guy is, glad he has been around for so long.

People Think This Is Real. They Are Dumb.

Over on the blowout boards, there is a typical real or fake thread going over this Felix Jones. I did a facepalm at least 3 times during the thread. I mean, if you have to ask? Seriously.

First, here is the card:

Yes, he actually wrote inside the swatch window to simulate a signature on a patch card that is already signed.

Besides that fail, there is no question of him selling fakes after I saw this card on his list:

Its so bad, its funny. Funny in a sad special olympics sort of way.

He also has a few of the fake Rookie Premiere Autos available, so you know he is a member of the band of theives.

Im not sure what is more hilarious – people who think the jones is real, or the guy who thinks that Matt Ryan shows he “haz skillz” at cardboard pimping. That’s his choadtastic name, right?
