Here is something I dont understand. You know Peyton Manning is going to come back some time in the future. If not, the Colts will most likely suck enough to be in the suck for Luck sweepstakes. They may also just draft a QB in the first or second regardless. Painter did play great, but is it great enough to earn him consideration? I dont think I would EVER peg him as a franchise QB. So, then, why pay for his cards like he IS a franchise QB?
These prices are absolutely crazy. No reason anyone should ever pay this much.

It’s because most people buying football cards today are absolute idiots…i.e. prospectors/investors with very short term time horizons who haven’t bothered to educate themselves about the long term history of the hobby.
When today’s hot rookies are selling for more than cards of all-time greats like Namath, Unitas, Bradshaw, Montana, Jim Brown, etc., you know the hobby has gone off the deep end.
People should be buying up Peyton Manning cards at a discount to his incredible HOF career. I have to say, I don’t think he’s coming back. Even if he is cleared… why? What for? He’s done everything one could ask for a franchise QB. I just know, as a fan of Darren Woodson for his career, this particular injury is extremely difficult to overcome. Woodson had this surgery on his lower back. Manning had it on his neck. How in the hell he wants to take a blindside hit from somebody like Clay Matthews, and have his neck snap like a twig, is beyond stupid to me…
How much would a lock of his hair go for?
Trade value is about the same as a lock from Aaron Rodgers former pedo-stache.
I am assuming that the thought to some would be that he will get offered a free agent job next season similar to Matt Cassel. Then you flip them when he lands the starting job somewhere.
I in now way endorse this practice.
