I have been posting frequently about how cool this year could turn out because of the level of offensive talent in the draft. That hasnt changed, even with Justin Blackmon’s inexcusable DUI before signing his first contract. One thing I am actually shocked to be seeing, actually has nothing to do with the fact that the first rookie autographs are really expensive. Funny enough, I am shocked to see who’s autograph is selling for the most!
Even after the Heisman ceremony and before the draft, I never would have guessed that RGIII would end up having more value than Andrew Luck. I honestly thought Andrew Luck would be football’s relative equivalent of Stephen Strasburg in 2010, when instead Griffin has ended up passing him on the inside. Both are still INCREDIBLY valuable, but Luck is playing second fiddle at this point.

Griffin brings a level of excitement to the 2012 season, much like Cam Newton had to start 2011. Both are big personalities, with a mobile and exciting approach to the position, which is not to say Luck does not. However, its just not the same. Personally, I like Luck’s potential a lot more than Griffin, if not only because he looked more like the prototypical prospect. Newton was not that guy in 2011, and he did better than any QB in history, so maybe that isnt a great judge of who has the most potential.
Im interested to see what happens with Prestige and Topps flagship with the first cards of the Rookies in their NFL jerseys. It will definitely add more value to the cards, and as long as they look as cool as this, Im not going to complain:

Without a crystal ball, all these words are just that – words. However, I cant say that Griffin before Luck is where I expected the proverbial cards to fall.
