In the last few years, there have been more than a handful of backup QBs who have moved on to be successful starters in the NFL. Matt Schaub played behind Michael Vick before signing with Houston, Matt Cassel was given to the Chiefs after a 11-5 season during Tom Brady’s injury, and now Matt Flynn may be the most valuable QB available during the offseason to a team that saw today’s SIX TD performance in the win over the Lions.
In Green Bay, Flynn will not overtake Aaron Rodgers as the starting QB, unless there is some horrible injury that puts him out for a long period of time. Now that his audition has gone about as well as it could, there will not be a question that some team will want to spend millons to make him their QB.
Check out his cards since the game started – RIDICULOUS:
2008 Bowman Sterling Green Refractor Auto RC /50
2008 Matt Flynn Exquisite RC Auto /150
Flynn definitely looked pretty damn good today, and it would not be surprising if he continues to be successful after this offseason lands him a starting job. The question becomes, is he worth spending THAT kind of crazy money for a guy that hasnt yet proven to be worth the paper his contract will be signed on? I mean, one game does not a QB make.
As usual, I say no.
Just sold a cheap Bowman Matt Flynn auto I picked out a bargain bin a few months ago for $5 for $50. I probably should have listed it for more, but I thought I was a little crazy listing it at $50!!! This is the first time I’ve had a card of a guy who went crazy! 😀
Flynn had a really good game or two last year while filling in for Rodgers. Pretty sure he threw for 3 TDs in one of them last year. The guy is the league’s best backup and could start for a lot of teams right now.
No doubt about it. My guess is that Washington will throw a TON of money at him. I just dont think people understand how volatile the value is for a guy like that.
Love this hobby. Lets not forget that the Lions secondary is horrible at best. Reminds me of Scott Mitchell sweepstakes way back and how excited some got over Charlie Whitehurst. All Flynn needs is 2 teams that think he is a better deal than someone in the draft..
Im a pessimist however. I still question Alex Smiths ability..
The Saints should be able to put up 60 on the Lions on Sat
Matt Cassell all over again. Sell now while people are going to pay insane money for this guy. Where ever he ends up will likely be a poor team with nobody to help make him look like an all-star when he steps in.
Since he joined the Packers, all he has done is win. Nuff said.
2 games started, 2 wins, which projects to a 162-0 record if he plays for 10 years. Amazing.
