Topps Prime has now been on shelves for a few days, and some of the bigger hits have started to pop up on eBay. It is the first product where the top rookies have higher numbered cards, which means those guys that you wanted but couldnt afford from Topps’ awesome products this year are a little more obtainable. Because Prime is not going to go up against stuff like Finest and Inception and come out on top, they needed to beef up the chase a little more.
The booklets have been selling extremely well, and now that we see there are some other surprises to match, Prime isnt looking as low end as it did upon release. Check out some of these cards, as they are definitely cool examples of what is out there for this product.
There is a multitude of nice hits in this product, its just a matter of when they are going to drop. Here are some examples.
Christian Ponder Logo Auto 1/1 – I dont usually fall for event used material, but this full Vikings logo is cool. Too bad its obscured a bit by the window dividers.
Cam Newton Base Auto 1/1 – I really like these base autos with the full bleed photos, and this one does look pretty awesome too.
Jake Locker Jumbo Patch Auto /5 – Interesting card here, its what I wish might have happened with some of the other swatch windows in this set.
Greg Little Logo Patch 1/1 – If you dont mind event used material, this card is very cool looking.
Stevan Ridley Logo Patch 1/1 Same here, too bad the logo isnt centered.
Im not saying I would go out and buy a ton of boxes of this product, as it is far from the best effort Topps has put forth this year. However, the way this looks compared to Panini is crazy that they are competitors. Its not even a competition, especially when you see some of the box hits in Timeless Treasures – a box at the same price point. Given the choice, ill take this stuff every time.
I agree that the Ponder logo is really nice, but come on Topps move it left and up a half inch!
